Performing Arts Theatre Company
PCPA –
For over half a century, PCPA – Pacific Conservatory Theatre has stood as a beacon of artistic excellence. It has also served as a training ground for talented performers.
Founded in 1964 by Donovan Marley, PCPA quickly established itself as a premier professional theatre company. Its first summer season debuted in 1965.
Allan Hancock College
Allan Hancock College President Walter Conrad recognized the need for cultural enrichment in the community. This led to the creation of PCPA, committed to bringing exceptional theatre to the Central Coast.
Platform Players
The inaugural group of performers, known as the Platform Players, transformed a modest barracks building into the Interim Theatre, seating just 100 people. Their debut production, *A Man for All Seasons*, captivated audiences, resulting in standing-room-only crowds for all ten performances. This enthusiastic reception marked the beginning of a tradition of excellence that PCPA has upheld ever since. Today, PCPA continues to present a diverse range of productions, from classic plays to contemporary works, delighting audiences with its high-quality performances.
PCPA is not only a treasured performing arts theatre but also a vital educational institution. It provides exceptional training for the next generation of theatre professionals. Students and audiences alike benefit from the vibrant artistic community that PCPA fosters, making it a cultural cornerstone of the Central Coast. Whether you’re a theatre lover or a budding artist, PCPA – Pacific Conservatory Theatre offers an inspiring and enriching experience that resonates long after the curtain falls. Come and experience the magic of live theatre with PCPA, where every performance is a celebration of creativity and passion!
